The Avigilon Alta Open mobile app is offered by OpenPath Security, Inc. which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Avigilon. OpenPath Security, Inc. is one of the group of companies that operates subject to the Avigilon Privacy Statement.

The Avigilon Alta Open mobile app works with the Avigilon Alta Access Control System which is purchased by our customers. We process personal information through the Avigilon Alta Open mobile app and Avigilon Alta Access Control System in accordance with the Avigilon Privacy Statement.

Our Role as a Processor or Service Provider

Data protection laws sometimes differentiate between ​“controllers” and ​“processors” of personal data. A ​“controller” determines the purposes and means (or the why and the how) of processing personal data. A ​“processor,” which is sometimes referred to as a ​“service provider,” processes personal data on behalf of a controller subject to the controller’s instructions.

When our customers use the products and services they purchase from us, we may process personal data on behalf of our customers (the controllers) in accordance with their instructions and, therefore, act as a ​“processor.” If you have questions about personal data that may be processed by OpenPath Security, Inc. and Avigilon as a ​“processor” in connection with the products or services used by one of our customers, or want to exercise any of your rights regarding such personal data, we recommend that you contact the applicable customer directly as it will be our obligation to redirect any inquiry you make to us back to that OpenPath Security, Inc. or Avigilon customer.

Location Services

Avigilon Alta Open mobile app collects location data to ensure the user is physically near the reader and to authenticate the user, and for the display, use and other processing with Avigilon Alta Access Control System and other Avigilon products and applications used by our customers with Avigilon Alta Access Control System, even when the app is closed or not in use.

You will be prompted to select your location setting when you first use the mobile app (see image below for Android). You can change your setting at any time in the Settings application.
